Playin' with fire..

So...here's the story.(I hope Deb doesn't kill me for this one!!) Aaron bought me a candle for my b-day. I LOVE it. I keep it on the counter and the kids know NOT TO TOUCH!! Well, today I was vacuuming and I smelled something burning. I thought, "What could that be, I don't have my dinner in yet." Then I hear Benny keep saying, "I'm sorry mommy, I'm sorry mommy." I turned around and he had lit the M&M bag on fire!! It was in flames and the counter was burned. I had to get a picture for the blog! Then I got a cup of water and put it out. Ben has been saying he's sorry for about 20 minutes!! Gotta LOVE my crazy kids.
BTW---Daddy will discipline for this one when he gets home!!!!

I am not sure who is crazier...you or your kids. You, for thinking your kids wouldn't touch a candle sitting on the counter. Or your kids for starting the fire and then not telling you about it....thank goodness he was apologiesing (sp) instead of hiding. love you Sis...NO MORE CANDLES!!

I am not sure what was crazier .... what happened or that you took time to take pics BEFORE putting the fire out! :)
I am very thankful everyone is okay. Guess you will just have to get new countertops. hee hee :)

Lizzy,

I was actually only about 2 feet away from Ben. He was sitting on the stool eating his M&M's!! No more candles on the counter for me!!!

I can relate all too well. Welcome to my world living with one of the busiest most curious little monkey's around. I am glad everyone is okay. I will take this as my warning. I often leave a candle burning in the same spot. On the counter above the sink. Try some soft scrub with bleach. Let it sit on there for a bite and then come back and try scrubbing in with a scotch sponge. Good Luck!

Oh, and make sure if you use the soft scrub you do it when the kids are in bed. Benners just might try to finger paint with it and bleach everything in site. Not to mention in his eyes,hair.... I left the softscrub in the tub one time and Penelope poured it all over herself. Luckily I was there and caught it fast enough to wash it off right away and pull her out of the tub!

Sara, that was hilarious. But I'm so glad no one got hurt!
And I'll add this to my little mental tiplist for when I have kids...no candles! :)
Have a great week!

You know you're a blogger when you take a picture of the fire before putting it out! haha.

Poor little guy, he kept apologizing for 20 minutes?! He must have felt really bad! I remember being a kid and disobeying and apologizing over and over for it. Oh the guilt!

Don't feel too bad Sara....

"But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die."
"Do not touch" hasn't been very reliable since day one!
